Swalens, M. Anteunis and D. Tavernier, Bull. Soc. Chim. Belg., 79 (1970) 441–450] and ?-hydroxyketones (HK) II [A.L. Henne and P.E. Hinkamp, J. Am. Chem. Soc., 76 (1954) 5147]. We have established that the lithium salts (Ia) as well as chelate compounds of DK with zinc (Ib) and aluminium (Ic) undergo selective reduction with LiAlh4 to HK III.
