Аннотация: The structures of six 2,2′-bipyridine derivatives containing aromatic amine moieties, namely N-aryl-4-aryl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-6,7-dihydro-5H-cyclopenta[c]pyridine-3-amines, were studied by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The molecular structures and the effect of the substituents of these compounds on the crystal packing are discussed.

Аннотация: Nitrosation of lithium 1,3-diketonates bearing fluoroalkyl and aryl (or hetaryl) substituents in positions 1 and 3 results in 3-polyfluoroalkyl-1,2,3-propanetrione 2-oximes (from this point on, oximes). Under similar conditions, lithium (Z)-1,1,1-trifluoro-4-oxo-4-(thien-2-yl)-2-buten-2-olate forms a hydration product of the corresponding oxime. Nitrosation of fluoroalkyl-containing lithium 1,3-diketonates is accompanied by retro-decomposition of the initial lithium 1,3-diketonates and the target oximes (or their hydration products) followed by oxidation and hydrolysis of the reaction products. Under the GC-MS conditions, the oximes undergo partial thermal decomposition to 2-aryl(hetaryl)-2-oxoethanenitriles. An analysis of solutions of the oximes in DMSO-d6 by 1H and 19F NMR spectroscopies revealed isomerization and hydration of these compounds. The temperature ranges of stability of the oximes were determined by thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis. The molecular and crystal structures of 4,4-difluoro-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,2,3-butanetrione 2-oxime and 4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(thien-2-yl)-1,2,3-butanetrione 2-oxime were determined by X-ray diffraction.

Аннотация: The Pt(II) acetylacetonate complex [(L)Pt(Acac)] based on aminophenyl-substituted 2-(2-thienyl)pyridine (L) was synthesized, its photophysical properties were studied and compared with these properties for a similar complex containing no amino group in the ligand. The structure of the complex was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (CIF file CCDC no. 2144689), 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, ESI mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis.

Аннотация: A concise procedure was developed for the synthesis of silver-containing xerogels Ag(0)/TiO2 [0.23.2 wt % Ag(0)], including the dissolution of AgNO3 in tetrabutoxytitanium, hydrolysis of the solution in acetic acid–water vapors, drying, and calcining the xerogel at 600–800°C. It was found by X-ray diff raction analysis and electron microscopy that the bulk of metallic silver particles (75–90%) in the material calcined at 800°C has a size of 25–45 nm. The fraction of particles (in the form of crystal intergrowths) with a diameter of 95–115 nm rises with an increase in the AgNO3 concentration at the dissolution stage; TiO2 is present in the rutile phase. At a calcination temperature of 600°C, the dominant TiO2 phase (72%) is anatase; in this case the size of silver particles is 5–10 nm.

Аннотация: Mononuclear copper(II) complexes were synthesized based on fluorinated diketonates decorated with a carbonyl or acetal group. The X-ray diffraction data demonstrate the effect of the nature of the fluorinated substituent on the crystal structure of homoleptic copper(II) complexes. As opposed to 1,2,4-triketonate, the acetal moiety of 1,3-diketonate enables intermolecular coordination to the metal centers, thereby making it possible to use 1,3-diketonate in further synthesis of heterometallic structures.

Аннотация: Copper(II) complexes with 1,1,1-trifluoro-4-(4-methoxyphenyl)butan-2,4-dione (HL1) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The biological properties of HL1 and cis-[Cu(L1)2(DMSO)] (3) were examined against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and opportunistic unicellular fungi. The cytotoxicity was estimated towards the HeLa and Vero cell lines. Complex 3 demonstrated antibacterial activity towards S. aureus comparable to that of streptomycin, lower antifungal activity than the ligand HL1 and moderate cytotoxicity. The bioactivity was compared with the activity of compounds of similar structures. The effect of changing the position of the methoxy group at the aromatic ring in the ligand moiety of the complexes on their antimicrobial and cytotoxic activity was explored. We propose that complex 3 has lower bioavailability and reduced bioactivity than expected due to strong intermolecular contacts. In addition, molecular docking studies provided theoretical information on the interactions of tested compounds with ribonucleotide reductase subunit R2, as well as the chaperones Hsp70 and Hsp90, which are important biomolecular targets for antitumor and antimicrobial drug search and design. The obtained results revealed that the complexes displayed enhanced affinity over organic ligands. Taken together, the copper(II) complexes with the trifluoromethyl methoxyphenyl-substituted β-diketones could be considered as promising anticancer agents with antibacterial properties

Commercially available 2,3-dihaloazines were used as starting materials. To discern the effect of merging an azine moiety within a helical skeleton, the X-ray structures, UV–vis absorption and fluorescence spectra of the helicenes were investigated and compared to that of the parent carbazole-based [6]helicene (7H-phenanthro[3,4-c]carbazole).

Аннотация: The reaction of 1,1,1-trifluoro-4-methoxy-3-penten-2-one (L1) with 1,3-diaminopropan-2-ol affords N,N'-(2-hydroxypropane-1,3-diyl)bis(trifluoroacetylacetimine) (H3L2) in a yield of 82%. In the absence of additional bases, the synthesized N2O3 ligand reacts with copper(II) acetate to give the binuclear complex [Cu2L2(OAc)] (I), the structure of which is determined by X-ray structure analysis (CIF file CCDC no. 2071133).
