Аннотация: The results of the clinical trial testing the efficacy of a new anti-influenza drug Triazavirin are presented in this work. The data of the trial were gathered during the 2010 influenza season. The treatment with oral Triazavirin significantly reduced the duration of the main clinical symptoms of influenza (intoxication, fever, respiratory symptoms), decreased the incidence of the influenza-related complications and the use of symptomatic drugs. The re-isolation rate of the influenza A and B viruses was significantly lower in the patients who were using Triazavirin. The analysis of the clinical data showed that the optimal prescribed dosage was 250 mg 3 times a day. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reaxys Database Information|

Аннотация: Mesoporous carbon of lamellar morphology was synthesized by the thermal decomposition of zinc glycerolate in an inert atmosphere followed by the removal of zinc oxide from the ZnO/C composite. The obtained material was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and low-temperature adsorption of nitrogen. Mesoporous carbon is remarkable for a high adsorption rate of methylene blue dye from aqueous solutions with the maximum adsorption capacity toward the dye equal to 1680 mg g−1.

Аннотация: One of the problems of our time is the environmentally safe destruction of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and their hydroxylated derivatives. The aim of the study was to investigate the features and prospects of the decomposition of PCB 70 (2,5,3',4'-tetrachlorobiphenyl) and hydroxylated chlorobiphenyls derived from it by Rhodococcus wratislaviensis strain CH628. As a result of the application of methods of periodic cultivation, gas chromatography and light spectrometry, it was found that the efficiency of destruction of PCB 70 1 g of cells of strain CH628 was 90 mg PCB/day, and the same indicator for a mixture consisting of hydroxy derivatives obtained from PCB 70 was 56 mg PCB/day. It was shown that the strain uses all components of the mixture of hydroxy-PCB 70 as a growth substrate, but with different degradation rates. When cultivated in a mineral medium with PCB 70 or a mixture of hydroxy-PCB 70, strain CH628 forms biofilms. The analysis of the obtained results shows that the use of the Rhodococcus wratislaviensis CH628 strain will make it possible to develop a technology for the environmentally safe destruction of PCB 70 and hydroxy-PCBs derived from it.

Аннотация: The aim of the present study was to examine how administration of a compound of 1,3,4-thiadiazine class 2-morpholino-5-phenyl-6H-1,3,4-thiadiazine, hydrobromide (L-17) with hypothermia inducing properties affects the brain metabolism. The mechanism by which L-17 induces hypothermia is unknown; it may involve hypothalamic central thermoregulation as well as act via inhibition of energy metabolism. We tested the hypothesis that L-17 may induce hypothermia by directly inhibiting energy metabolism. The study in vivo was carried out on Sprague-Dawley adult rats. Two doses of L-17 were administered (190 mg/ kg and 760 mg/kg). Brain metabolites were analyzed in control and treated groups using magnetic resonance spectroscopy, along with blood flow rate measurements in carotid arteries and body temperature measurements. Further in vitro studies on primary cultures from rat hippocampus were carried out to perform a mitochondria function test of L-17 preincubation (100 μM, 30 min). Analysis of brain metabolites showed no significant changes in 190 mg/kg treated group along with a significant reduction in body temperature by 1.5ÊC. However, administration of L-17 in higher dose 760 mg/kg provoked changes in brain metabolites indicative of neurotoxicity as well as reduction in carotid arteries flow rate. In addition, a balance change of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters was observed. The L-17 pre-incubation with cell primary cultures from rat brain showed no significant changes in mitochondrial function. The results obtained in the study indicate that acute administration of L-17 190 mg/kg in rats induces mild hypothermia with no adverse effects onto brain metabolism.

Аннотация: Polysiloxanes containing nonchelating 3-aminopropyl and chelating N-(2-aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyl groups with the degree of functionalization of 28 and 24%, respectively, were prepared by sol–gel synthesis. The polysiloxanes obtained showed comparable activity in sorption of Pd(II), Pt(IV), Fe(III), Cd(II), Zn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Mn(II), Pb(II), Ca(II), and Mg(II) ions from model multicomponent solutions. At pH 3,3-aminopropylpolysiloxane selectively takes up platinoid ions. The chelating structure of N-(2-aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyl groups leads to a decrease in the selectivity of the interaction with Pd(II) ions but increases the affinity for Fe(III), Ni(II), and Cu(II). Preconcentration in the dynamic mode allows quantitative sorption of Pd(II) and Pt(IV), followed by virtually quantitative elution of the metal ions from the sorbent surface.

Аннотация: A method of one-step C-C coupling of 1,5-bis(2,6-dimethylphenoxy)-3-oxapentane (1a) and 1,8-bis(2,6-dimethylphenoxy)-3,6-dioxaoctane (1b) with 3-methylthio- (2) and 3-amino-1,2,4-triazine (3) and 3-aryl-1,2,4-triazin-5-one (6-8) has been described. The reaction of compounds 1a,b with compounds 2 and 3 in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid results in the addition of the dimethylphenoxy group to the unsubstituted C(5) carbon atom of the triazine ring. The reactions of triazinones 6-8 with compounds 1a,b in a mixture of trifluoroacetic acid and organic anhydrides are accompanied by the acylation of the nitrogen atom adjacent to the reaction center and affords bis[(3-R-1-acyl-5-oxo-1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-1,2,4-triazin-6-yl)-2,6-dimethylphenoxy]-3-oxapentane or -3,6-dioxaoctane. The obtained adducts can smoothly be oxidized under mild conditions to form more stable products of nucleophilic hydrogen substitution in the triazine ring. The extraction and transport of Ca2+ and Mg2+ cations through an organic membrane by the compounds synthesized are discussed.

Аннотация: Immobilizing thiourea onto chitosan allowed using the polymer for the recovery of platinum groups metals (PGMs) in acidic solutions (up to 1–2M HCl concentrations). At low HCl concentration protonated amine groups may sorb chloroanionic metal species (electrostatic attraction mechanism); however, most of sorption proceeds through chelation on sulfur containing groups (less sensitive to acidic conditions). The bi-site Langmuir equation was used for fitting sorption isotherms. The sorption of PGMs was weakly affected by the composition of the solution (presence of high concentration of anions and base metals). Maximum sorption capacities for Pd(II) and Pt(IV) ranged between 274 and 330 mg g?1 in 0.25M HCl solutions and decreased to 150–198 mg g?1 in 2M HCl solutions: Pd(II) sorption was systematically higher than Pt(IV) sorption. The pseudo-second rate equation was used for modeling the uptake kinetics. Agitation speed hardly affected uptake kinetics indicating that external diffusion resistance is not the rate controlling step. Desorption yield higher than 85% were obtained using thiourea in 0.1M HCl solution. The adsorbents could be reused for at least three cycles

The procedure is applied to the analysis of water samples, process solutions for treating metals, air of the working zone, and industrial emissions. Determination limits in water media are 0.01 mg/L and in the air of the working zone, 0.1 mg/m3.
