Аннотация: Oxidation of cyclohexanone to ɛ-caprolactone with stable industrially manufactured hydrogen peroxide derivatives: adduct with urea (urea hydrogen peroxide), sodium perborate, sodium percarbonate (Persol), magnesium monoperphthalate (Dismozon) was studied. Oxidation with urea hydrogen peroxide is the most efficient in hexafluoroisopropanol in the case of preliminary removal of urea in the form of an oxalate. Oxidation with sodium perborate and percarbonate provides high yields in trifluoroacetic acid. The lowest cost process consists in interaction with sodium monoperphthalate (Persol and phthalic anhydride) in an aqueous medium

Аннотация: The critical pressures pc and the critical temperatures Tc of diols with straight alkylchains HO(CH2)nOH and n = 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12 have been measured. All the alkanediols studied decompose at near-critical temperatures. A pulse-heating method which allows measuring the critical properties of thermally unstable compounds has been used. The times of heating from the beginning of a pulse to the moment of reaching the critical temperature were from (0.03 to 0.46) ms. The short residence times provided little degradation of the substances in the course of the experiments. The uncertainties of the measurement of the critical properties of alkanediols are 0.04 pc and 0.015 Tc, where Tc is the absolute temperature. The critical properties obtained have been compared with the values measured earlier by various techniques. The experimental critical constants of alkanediols have also been compared with those calculated using the group-contribution methods of Lydersen, Wilson and Jasperson, and Marrero and Gani

Аннотация: The addition of the oxirane derivatives to CO2 was found to occur without Lewis acid involvement but requires the presence of the Lewis base. The reaction was carried out at atmospheric pressure by CO2 bubbling through the starting ether in the presence of a source of halide anion or trichloroacetate anion, which provides the formation of ethylenecarbonate derivatives in preparative amounts. The reactivity of halide anions in the addition of the studied oxirane derivatives to CO2 decreases in the order I− > Br− > Cl− > F− >> Cl3CCOO−. The quantum chemical calculations of the reaction of CO2 with epichlorohydrin show that the reaction consists of consecutive processes of nucleophilic addition and nucleophilic ipso-substitution, which explains the catalytic effect of the Lewis bases and the order of their activity.

Аннотация: The efficiencies of hydrogen peroxide derivatives in the Baeyer–Villiger oxidation of cyclopen­tanone to δ-valerolactone have been compared. The oxidants used were hydrogen peroxide in acetic, formic, or trifluoroacetic acid, magnesium and sodium monoperoxyphthalates, cumene hydroperoxide, and tert-butyl hydroperoxide. The oxidation was carried out in water, aqueous methanol, and water–ethyl acetate. Sodium and magnesium monoperoxyphthalates turned out to provide high conversion and selectivity under mild conditions.

Аннотация: Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are used in applications ranging from electrical engineering to medical device manufacturing. It is well known that the addition of nanotubes can influence the mechanical properties of various industrial materials, including plastics. Electrospinning is a popular method for fabricating nanomaterials, widely suggested for polymer scaffold manufacturing. In this study, we aimed to describe the influence of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) suspensions on polymeric poured films and electrospun scaffolds and to investigate their structural and mechanical properties obtained from various compositions. To obtain films and electrospun scaffolds of 8 mm diameter, we used poly-ε-caprolactone (PCL) and poly(cyclohexene carbonate) (PCHC) solutions containing several mass fractions of SWCNT. The samples were characterized using tensile tests, atomic force and scanning electronic microscopy (AFM and SEM). All the studied SWCNT concentrations were shown to decrease the extensibility and strength of electrospun scaffolds, so SWCNT use was considered unsuitable for this technique. The 0.01% mass fraction of SWCNT in PCL films increased the polymer strength, while fractions of 0.03% and more significantly decreased the polymer strength and extensibility compared to the undoped polymer. The PHCH polymeric films showed a similar behavior with an extremum at 0.02% concentration for strength at break.
