Аннотация: The technique of lifetime measurement for metastable liquid and continuous depressurization technique were applied for study of kinetics of spontaneous cavitation in superheated liquid argon under impact of weak ultrasonic fields. It was demonstrated that acoustic cavitation may occur through the mechanism of homogeneous generation of vapor phase or through "swinging" of vapor bubbles generated by high-energy particles and/or other kinds of initiative factors. The thresholds of acoustic cavitation are described by the theory of homogeneous nucleation

Аннотация: The kinetics of explosive cavitation has been studied by experiment in helium-saturated liquid argon. Measurements have been made by the method of pulse heating of a solution on a thin platinum wire in a negative-pressure wave. The temperature dependence of cavitation strength has been traced, the effective values of the nucleation rate J and the derivative dlnJ/dT have been determined. It has been found that the dissolution of helium results in decreasing cavitation strength of argon. Satisfactory agreement between data of homogeneous nucleation theory and experiment with the use of capillarity approximation in the latter, though limiting stretches (superheats) attained by experiment are nevertheless systematically lower than calculated ones

Аннотация: The method of lifetime measurement has been used to investigate the kinetics of spontaneous boiling-up of superheated argonhelium and argon?neon solutions. Experiments were made at a pressure of p = 1.5 MPa and concentrations up to 0.33 mol% in the range of nucleation rates from 104 to 108 s1 m3. The homogeneous nucleation regime has been distinguished. With good agreement between experimental data and homogeneous nucleation theory in temperature and concentration dependences of the nucleation rate, a systematic underestimation by 0.250.34 K has been revealed in superheat temperatures over the saturated line attained by experiment as compared with theoretical values calculated in a macroscopic approximation. The revealed disagreement between theory and experiment is connected with the dependence of the properties of new-phase nuclei on their size.

Аннотация: The molecular-dynamics method has been used for calculating the density profiles of the mixture argon−neon, surface tension, and adsorption in systems of 4096−8957 Lennard−Jones particles at a reduced temperature T* = kBT/εα0.7 ± 0.01 and a pressure up to p* = pσα3/εα = 0.6, where σα and εα are parameters of the argon potential. The results of calculating phase-equilibrium parameters are compared with data for a single-fluid model of a solution. The paper discusses the applicability of an extended version of the van der Waals capillarity theory to the description of the surface tension of a gas-saturated liquid

Аннотация: The kinetics of explosive boiling-up of liquid argon has been investigated at negative pressures created by the reflection of a compression pulse 3–5 µs long from the free surface of a liquid by the method of liquid pulse heating on a thin platinum wire (with a rate of temperature increase of about 1 K/µs). The limiting superheats T* (stretches p*), the effective nucleation rate J*, and the derivative GT=(d ln J/dT)T=T* have been determined by experimental data on the thermal perturbation of a wire probe and the results of solution of the problem on the initial stage of explosive boiling-up of a liquid. The experimental data are compared with homogeneous nucleation theory.
