Аннотация: The method of lifetime measurement has been used to investigate the kinetics of spontaneous boiling-up of superheated argonhelium and argon?neon solutions. Experiments were made at a pressure of p = 1.5 MPa and concentrations up to 0.33 mol% in the range of nucleation rates from 104 to 108 s1 m3. The homogeneous nucleation regime has been distinguished. With good agreement between experimental data and homogeneous nucleation theory in temperature and concentration dependences of the nucleation rate, a systematic underestimation by 0.250.34 K has been revealed in superheat temperatures over the saturated line attained by experiment as compared with theoretical values calculated in a macroscopic approximation. The revealed disagreement between theory and experiment is connected with the dependence of the properties of new-phase nuclei on their size.

Temperature dependences of the mean lifetime of a metastable solution have been obtained in experiments at pressures p = 0.5, 1.0 MPa and several values of the mixture concentration. The nucleation rate J has been calculated. It varied in experiments from 104 tо 108 s?1 m?3. The results of experiments are compared with homogeneous nucleation theory. Аннотация: Arc current fluctuations between a solid metal electrode and a liquid melt of alkaline carbonates at atmospheric pressure are measured. Arc current fluctuation power spectra are determined from the measurement data. It is shown that the fluctuation power is inversely proportional to the frequency (1/f-fluctuations). The fluctuations have a normal Gaussian distribution. The observed 1/f fluctuations exhibit scale invariance.

Аннотация: The critical temperature and pressure of squalane (2,6,10,15,19,23-hexamethyltetracosane) have been measured using the pulse-heating method. Residence times are from 0.03 to 1 ms. The experimental critical properties are compared with the results of measurement by a flow method, computer-simulation data, and the values calculated by the group-contribution methods. The critical temperature of squalane is about 2.5% lower and the critical pressure is 10% higher than those of its linear isomer-n-triacontane.

Аннотация: The kinetics of spontaneous boiling-up of superheated binary solutions of cryogenic liquids is studied. Within the framework of the Kramers-Zeldovich method, an expression is obtained for the steady state rate of homogeneous nucleation in a solution that takes into account free-molecular and diffusion regimes of the substance supply to a growing bubble. Viscous and inertial forces are also taken into account in the study of the nucleus growth dynamics. The work of critical nucleus formation is determined within the framework of the Gibbs and van der Waals capillarity theories. The dependence of the surface tension of critical bubbles in the solution on their size is investigated. The temperature of attainable superheating and nucleation rates in superheated solutions of cryogenic liquids with complete or partial solubility of the components are determined by a method of lifetime measurement. The experiments were conducted in a wide range of pressures and solution concentrations. The measurement results are compared with the theory of homogeneous nucleation taking or not taking into account the size effect in nucleation. It has been found that, by taking into account the size dependence of the surface tension of a nucleus, better agreement between the theory and experiment is obtained. The boundary of essential instability of the solution, that is, the diffusion spinodal, is computed

Аннотация: An experimental study of the kinetics of formation of nuclei hcp phase in supercooled bcc phase of solid 4He and 3He-4He solution containing 1% 3He is realised. The method precision measurement of pressure crystal cooled along isochore near the line of phase equilibrium bcc-hcp is used. It's found that in 4He lifetime metastable bcc phase has a complex depend Ence on the magnitude of hypothermia, which can be described with the involvement of two mechanisms of nucleation - homogeneous and heterogeneous. It is shown that at large overcooling bcc phase of carefully annealed crystals homogeneous nucleation mechanism realized, and at low overcooling a heterogeneous mechanism realized, which is characterized by the values of activation coefficients several orders of magnitude less homogeneous. The effect of defects and impurities on the nucleation process is investigated. Revealed that in the unannealed (defective) 4He crystal nucleation rate shows huge variation in the values, indicating poor reproducibility from crystal to crystal. It's found that for the annealed samples 3He-4He data obtained on the nucleation kinetics can be described only by heterogeneous nucleation mechanism

Аннотация: Results of statistical measurement of n-pentane and n-hexane boiling-up expectancy time near the boundary of attainable superheating are presented. Experiments were carried out in glass capillaries with various volumes of superheated liquid. Several samples with the volume from 100 to 200 measurements of life time for preset metastable state have been obtained (p, T = const). Their histograms contain small empty initial section, maximum and long “tail” in the area of large times. Non-monotonous dependence of probability distribution density on time proves non-stationary character of the random process resulting in the production of supercritical embryo. Two simple approximations of non-stationary nucleation flow well describing experimental data have been considered. For exponential distribution, the probabilities of experimentally found peculiarities of boiling-up expectancy time distribution density have been evaluated; they prove incompatibility of this distribution with the experimental one

Аннотация: The critical pressures pc and the critical temperatures Tc of diols with straight alkylchains HO(CH2)nOH and n=3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12 have been measured. All the alkanediols studied decompose at near-critical temperatures. A pulse-heating method which allows measuring the critical properties of thermally unstable compounds has been used. The times of heating from the beginning of a pulse to the moment of reaching the critical temperature were from (0.03 to 0.46)ms. The short residence times provided little degradation of the substances in the course of the experiments. The uncertainties of the measurement of the critical properties of alkanediols are 0.04 pc and 0.015 Tc, where Tc is the absolute temperature. The critical properties obtained have been compared with the values measured earlier by various techniques. The experimental critical constants of alkanediols have also been compared with those calculated using the group-contribution methods of Lydersen, Wilson and Jasperson, and Marrero and Gani

Аннотация: Spontaneous liquid boiling-up is studied using the technique of fiber-optic reflectometry. The speed of the experimental technique (10 MS/s) and small dimensions of the measurement area (9 μm) have opened new possibilities for monitoring the initial stage of boiling-up. When using a double-probe scheme, the fact of measuring the prognostic signal at different times by two sensitive elements of the optical probes was discovered. Based on the experimental results, a hypothesis was formulated regarding the local character of the appearance of the perturbation source generating the observed signal in a superheated liquid. An estimate was obtained for the rate of perturbation propagation in a wide variation range of the degree of liquid superheating

Аннотация: The method of lifetime measurement is used to investigate the kinetics of spontaneous boiling-up of ethane-nitrogen solutions. Superheating temperatures Tn of solutions have been determined in experiments at pressure p = 1.0, 1.6 MPa and nitrogen concentration in ethane x = 0.5, 1.5 mol% in the nucleation rate range J = 1 × 104-2 × 108 s-1 m-3. At J > 3 × 106 s-1 m-3 one can observe a satisfactory agreement between experimental data and homogeneous nucleation theory with respect to the temperature dependence of the nucleation rate and a systematic disagreement in the superheating temperature. At x = 0.5 mol% attainable superheating temperatures achieved by experiment coincide within the experimental error with theoretical values, and at x = 1.5 mol% exceed them by approximately 1.7 K. It is shown that one possible reason of such "excess superheating" of a solution beyond the theoretical value of Tn may be the absence of adsorption equilibrium at the critical bubble-ambient solution interface

Аннотация: The capillary constant a 2 was measured by the differential capillary method of surface tension measurement. The surface tension σ of dimethyl ether was calculated. The experiments were performed both above the triple point temperature (T t = 131.66 K) and below it in the range in which the coexisting liquid and gas are metastable. Equations that approximate the temperature dependences of a 2 and σ were suggested. The excess surface entropy and energy were determined. The surface entropy had a maximum at T ≈ 190 K.
