Аннотация: The results of the experimental investigations on the heat transfer of thin wires with water/oil and ether/water emulsions are given. The temperature of normal oil boiling is not lower than 340°C. A considerable delay in the crisis of bubble boiling is obtained for both emulsions, and is particularly noticeable for the ether/water emulsion. In the latter case the coefficient of connective heat transfer and the density of heat flux substantially exceed the corresponding values for pure initial liquids in the entire investigated range of temperatures (from 20 to 230°C) and pressures (from 0.1 to 3.6 MPa)

Аннотация: The method of lifetime measurement has been used to investigate the kinetics of spontaneous boiling-up of superheated argonhelium and argon?neon solutions. Experiments were made at a pressure of p = 1.5 MPa and concentrations up to 0.33 mol% in the range of nucleation rates from 104 to 108 s1 m3. The homogeneous nucleation regime has been distinguished. With good agreement between experimental data and homogeneous nucleation theory in temperature and concentration dependences of the nucleation rate, a systematic underestimation by 0.250.34 K has been revealed in superheat temperatures over the saturated line attained by experiment as compared with theoretical values calculated in a macroscopic approximation. The revealed disagreement between theory and experiment is connected with the dependence of the properties of new-phase nuclei on their size.

Measurements were carried out in a high-pressure optical chamber at pressures p in the range from 0.1 MPa to 230 MPa. The behaviour of critical exponents for (p, x) and (T, x) phase-equilibrium diagrams: T and p, respectively, has been studied along the critical line and at the double critical point (DCP) with coordinates PD = 127 MPa and TD = 296.5 K. The exponent p retains its value along the line of critical points, including the double critical point; T increases anomalously with an approach to the DCP????????

Аннотация: The nucleation of the vapor phase in superheated nitrogen-helium liquid solutions was studied by lifetime measurements. Аннотация: The method of measuring the lifetime has been used to investigate the kinetics of spontaneous boiling-up of superheated xenon in copper tubes. In experiments the temperature dependence of the mean lifetime has been determined at pressures of 1.48 and 1.98 MPa. The data obtained have been compared with homogeneous nucleation theory. It has been found that experimental values of the attainable superheating temperature and the derivative (partial derivative ln J/partial derivative T)(p) are systematically lower than their theoretical values. A description of experimental data in the framework of heterogeneous nucleation theory has shown that for the agreement of theory and experiment with the use of a macroscopic model of nucleation on a smooth surface it is necessary to take the value of the equilibrium contact angle theta(0) equal to 70 degrees, which is not a characteristic for a xenon-metal system. Taking into account the contribution of the energy of the three-phase contact solid wall-liquid-gas in a microscopic nucleation model makes it possible to reconcile heterogeneous nucleation theory and experimental data at a contact angle theta(0) close to zero, with the linear tension taken equal to -6x10(-12) J/m and the microscopic contact angle theta(*)similar or equal to 57 degrees. The number of weakened sites, on which bubbles may form, is always smaller than the number of molecules adjacent to the solid wall

Temperature dependences of the mean lifetime of a mixture in the metastable (superheated) state have been determined, and nucleation rates have been calculated by experiments at fixed pressures of 1.171 and 1.667 MPa and at several values of concentrations. Experimental data are compared with results of the homogeneous nucleation theory in a macroscopic (capillary) approximation and with allowance for the dependence of the properties of nuclei on the curvature of their dividing surface. The size effect of nucleation is taken into account in the framework of the van der Waals, Cahn-Hilliard method. The equation of state of the mixture has been built, and the boundary of stability of homogeneous states, the diffusion spinodal, has been determined. The paper discusses the problems of building a nucleation theory for gas-filled mixtures and states a good agreement between theory and experiment at nucleation rates J similar or equal to 10(7) m(-1) s(-1) when the size effect in nucleation is taken into account

Аннотация: The method of measuring the lifetime of a liquid in a metastable (superheated) state has been used to investigate the kinetics of spontaneous boiling-up of ethane–methane solutions. The temperature dependence of the solution mean lifetime has been traced at two values of methane concentration (2.1 and 6.0 mol %) and two pressures (1.0 and 1.6 MPa). The results of experiments are compared with classical homogeneous nucleation theory. For pure ethane at small (<8.9 s) lifetimes, one can observe a systematic “under-heating” (0.5–0.7 K) of the solution against theoretical values of the limiting superheating temperature. Dissolution of 6 mol % of methane in ethane results in a solution “superheating” of 0.7 K in excess of the theoretical value. The slopes of experimental curves at small (<8.9 s) lifetimes are in satisfactory agreement with theory. When the mean lifetimes exceed the value of 8.9 s, one can observe considerable deviations of experimental curves from theoretical lines. Аннотация: The cavitation strength of liquids has been studied at atmospheric pressure by applying tensile stress pulses of duration up to 3 μs and amplitude up to 20 MPa within the temperature range from room temperature to the temperature of explosive boiling-up of the liquid. At high temperatures, where in absolute value the tensile strength does not exceed 1-2 times the critical pressure, agreement between classical nucleation theory and experiment is observed within the experimental error. With a decrease of the temperature the tensile strength of the liquid increases, but the experimental values of the breaking strength are lower than those predicted from theory.
