Аннотация: In the present work the effect of cobalt oxide addition on the density and on the electrical properties of gadolinium-doped barium cerate is investigated. A series of BaCe0.9 б xGd0.1CoxO3 б б (x = 0.00, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, 0.10) samples were prepared according to the conventional solid state reaction synthesis technique. The experimental results indicated that the addition of cobalt oxide leads to the improvement of the sintering properties and the enhancement of the grain dimensions. It was found that the investigated complex oxides crystallize at cubic singony. Moreover, according to the X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses, the prepared samples are single-phase in the range of 0.00 x б 0.10, while at compositions of x б 0.03 there is almost no open porosity. According to the four-probe dc electrical conductivity measurements, the conductivity of the BaCe0.9 б xGd0.1CoxO3 б б samples is inferior to the undoped ones (BaCe0.9Gd0.1O3 б б—BCG) in wet air atmosphere. However, the presence of Co in the range of 0.03 б x б 0.10 at higher temperatures (800–900 °C) has smaller impact on the electrical conductivity values. Finally, in wet hydrogen atmosphere the electrical conductivity values of the 1 mol% Co-doped sample were found to be close enough to the ones of the undoped sample, leading to the conclusion that cobalt can be effectively employed as a sintering additive of gadolinium-doped barium cerates.

Аннотация: The impedance of a porous gold electrode in contact with solid electrolyte??La0.88 Sr0.12 Ga0.82 Mg0.18 O2.85 and the effect of the manufacture conditions on its polarization resistance are studied at 600800°С in air. The overall oxygen reaction rate on a gold electrode is described as the sum of two partial constituents, namely, the oxygen exchange at the gas/electrolyte interface at the gold/gas/electrolyte tri-??ple-phased boundary.

Аннотация: In the present work the electrical properties of (1 ? x)Ce0.8Gd0.2O2 ? ? + xTiO2 (x = 0–0.06) synthesized by the standard ceramic technology were investigated, in a wide range of oxygen partial pressures (0.21–10? 20atm at 900 °C) and temperatures (600–900 °C), both in air and H2 + 3%H2O atmosphere. It was found, that only the introduction of above 1 mol% TiO2 decreases the sintering temperature of Ce0.8Gd0.2O2 ? ?. The values of total electrical conductivity do not change significantly with the content of the sintering aid up to 3 mol%, while the activation energy of total conductivity in air decreases considerably with the introduction of TiO2 into Ce0.8Gd0.2O2 ? ? from 87 to 67 kJ/mol; however, it is independent of x up to 0.03. The dependence of the total conductivity on the oxygen partial pressure is characterized by three regions. In the intermediate region (10? 10–10? 14) the conductivity behavior is described according to the oxygen vacancy model. The n-type conductivity region curve of Ce0.8Gd0.2O2 ? ? is fitted to a -1/5 slope. The increase of TiO2 content leads to the slope increase at ? 1/6, ? 1/8 and ? 1/9 for 1, 2 and 3 mol% TiO2, respectively, due to the trapping of electrons by Ti4+. 1 mol% doping increases the electrolytic region of Ce0.8Gd0.2O2 ? ? from 10? 10 to 10? 13atm. Finally, the optimal content of TiO2 from the viewpoint of sintering and electrical properties was found to be 2 mol%.????

Аннотация: The present work aims at the investigation of Ln0.2Ce0.8O2−δ (where Ln = Sm, La, Gd) structural and electrical properties when in the Ln sub-lattice, Ba2+ and Sr2+ with ionic radii 1.42 and 1.26 Å, respectively, are introduced. The conductivity measurements were held both in air and in H2 + 3%H2O atmosphere using the 4-probe dc technique at the temperature range of 600–900 °C. Among all the samples, the highest value of electrical conductivity is obtained in the case of (Sm0.75Sr0.2Ba0.05)0.2Ce0.8O2−δ, both in air and in hydrogen atmosphere. In the case of H2 + 3%H2O the conductivity of the co-doped compounds increases in comparison with air. Moreover, the dependence of conductivity on the oxygen partial pressure, measured at the range of 0.21–10−22 atm, showed that the electrolytic area of alkaline-earth metals doped Ln0.2Ce0.8O2−δ is considerably enhanced, as predicted by the theory. Finally, by comparing the thermal expansion coefficients of the different materials (TEC), the thermo-mechanical compatibility between the co-doped and the other cell components was also investigated.

Аннотация: Изучена общая проводимость СaZr1 - xScxO3 - (x = 0.01–0.20) четырехзондовым методом на постоянном токе в интервале температур 600–900°С в атмосфере влажного воздуха (рН2 = 40–2500 Па); методом импеданса изучен образец СaZr0.95Sc0.05O3 - . Измерены числа переноса ионов и протонов CaZr0.95Sc0.05O3 - при разных влажностях. Особенности на температурных зависимостях электропроводности сопоставлены с данными дилатометрии и трактуются как структурные изменения в кислородной подрешетке.

Аннотация: The 61%NiO + 39%Zr0.84Y0.16O1.92 (NiO-YSZ) and 56%NiO + 44%Zr0.83Sc0.16Ce0.01O1.92 (NiO-CeSSZ) composite powders have been prepared using two-steps and one-step combustion synthesis, respectively. The Ni-YSZ anode substrate with a low level of electrical resistance (less than 1 mOhm cm) and porosity of about 53% in the reduced state was fabricated. The functional layer of the anode with the high level of electrochemical activity was made of NiO-CeSSZ. The single anode-supported solid oxide fuel cell with the bi-layer Ni-cermet anode, Zr0.84Sc0.16O1.92 film electrolyte and the Pt + 3% Zr0.84Y0.16O1.92 cathode was fabricated. The power density and the U–I curves of the fuel cell at initial state and after impregnation of the cathode and anode by praseodymium and cerium oxides, respectively, have been measured at different temperatures. The maximum of power density of the initial fuel cell was 0.35 W cm−2 at conditions of wet hydrogen (air) supply to the anode (cathode) at 900 °C. After the electrodes were impregnated, the value of power density increased by seven times and was approximately 2.4 W cm−2 at 0.6 V. It was suggested that after the electrodes impregnation the polarization resistance of the fuel cell was determined by the gas diffusion in the supported anode.

Аннотация: Segmentation algorithms for the quantitative description of the surface microstructure and the evaluation of the grain-boundary conductivity of ceramic materials surface using SEM microphotographs analysis was developed and applied in the present work for first time in barium cerate based solid solutions. To this purpose novel polycrystalline ceramic materials based on Cu and Gd co-doped BaCeO3 proton conductors exhibiting high proton conductivity have been prepared and characterized. The influence of copper oxide as a dopant on the microstructure and the electrical properties of BaCe0.9–xGd0.1CuxO3–δ (0≤x≤0.1) have been examined in detail. It is shown that the dependence of the electrical conductivity is correlated with the average oxide grain diameter variation in air at various temperatures. Moreover, it was found that the algorithmic segmentation evaluation results are in good agreement with the experimental ones, verifying the considerable contribution of the grain-boundary conductivity to the electrical transport of Cu and Gd co-doped BaCeO3 proton conductors.
